Maria Tonu is a Moldovan-born Canadian writer, poet, anthologist, and editor. Maria Tonu writes fiction, non-fiction, poems, and maxims. Maria Tonu is fluent in three languages: English (Canadian citizen), Romanian (native), and Russian (born in the former Soviet Empire).
Maria Tonu lives in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.
Maria Tonu is the author of a book on the history of Canada; eight books of poetry, four of which are for children; two volumes of short prose; two volumes of aphorisms; a novel; and a monograph in sociology consisting of 35 scientific articles and 25 empirical works in the fields of social protection, rehabilitation, and social integration for people with disabilities in Romanian.
Maria Tonu's profile, poems, and short stories have been published in the *Encyclopedia of Romanian Writers* (2019), in the anthology *Bessarabia of My Soul* (2018), *Testament – 400 Years of Romanian Poetry* (2019), and in several print and online publications in Romania, Canada, and Great Britain.
The volume of poems *Nimbus*, in English, is published on the Amazon platform.
As an anthologist, Maria Tonu has published in the Republic of Moldova and Canada, from 1993 to the present, 10 anthologies that include works by Romanian writers from Canada, Moldova, and Romania. As an editor, Maria Tonu has published 8 books by Moldovan and Russian writers and 4 artistic albums that reflect the art of visual artists, educational institutions, and a dance ensemble, and has edited 6 volumes in the fields of public health and social protection for people with disabilities.
